Their goal was simple: to play music, enjoy the spiritual energy of the beach, and connect with nature.

What started as a handful of friends with hand drums and a shared passion quickly grew. Over the last three decades, it has

evolved into a massive, inclusive community event. While it has migrated from its original spot at Beach Access 8 to its current home at the main public beach, the soul of the event remains the same.

You’ll see professional drummers, hulahoopers, belly dancers, and children all moving to the same beat. It is a place where “the only rule is to be kind.”

When and Where to Join the Beat

The drum circle is a weekly tradition that happens every Sunday, year-round.

Location: 

Siesta Beach, just south of the main pavilion (between lifeguard stands 3 and 4).

Time: 

The music typically starts about one hour before sunset.

2026 Schedule: 

Because the start time is tied to the sun, it shifts throughout the year. In the winter months, expect things to kick off around 4:30 PM – 5:00 PM. As we move into the summer, the rhythm starts later, closer to 7:00 PM.

Pro Tip: 

Arrive early! The drum circle draws hundreds (and sometimes thousands) of spectators. Getting there an hour and

a half before sunset ensures you find a great spot on the sand and can witness the energy build as more drummers join the

circle.
